AL – Verify Sales Tax Number

AL has a way to verify customer sales tax numbers to do your due diligence in granting exemptions to your customers.  See this bulletin regarding a recent AL ruling where a judge says that since AL has a verification site now, retailers will be held to higher standards in the future.

This is the website where you can check on your customers license status.  (Note: You may have to have an on-line account with AL to access this page).

Be prepared to indication the type of tax your customer is registered for (Sales/Sellers Use/Direct Pay, etc.)
