SD – Use Self-Storage services?? GET YOUR REFUND!!

South Dakota Supreme Court ruled in December that self-storage is not taxable. Therefore, if you’ve used these services in the past, you are able to petition the state for a refund. If you are a customer of self-storage services, then you must ask for that sales tax money back from the vendor who charged it to you by Sept. 15, 2009. If you are a vendor, then you have to file for your refund by Oct. 1, 2009 for any taxes that were refunded to customers.

Perhaps that is why SD is looking to raise the sales tax rates as I previously reported. They need to make up for the expected $1M lost revenue.
