MN Sales Tax Rate to Increase 7/1/09

Posted by salestax on April 13, 2009

As voted on in November: MN state tax rate increasing from 6.5% to 6.875% as of July 1st, 2009.

The deal was that this additional tax revenue would go to protect and enhance much of MN’s wildlife and water resources. As citizens, be sure that this happens.

  1. Someone should compose a listing of genertally used reasons why politicians increase taxes:
    1. It is for the children.
    2. It is for the environment.
    3. It for the prevention of job losses.

When the money does not go to the prior pledge area, the politicians are quick to take the approach “I only solicited the money, I did not manage its use.”
